Industrial Design Process
Concept Generation
In the concept generation stage, we will start from these aspects to provide rich materials and diverse options for the preliminary design:
- Members of the design team gather together to brainstorm, use innovative design thinking, and freely propose various design concepts.
- Focus on all aspects of product functionality, form, and user experience to ensure that the proposed design concepts cover diversity.
- Promote the exchange and deepening of concepts through group discussions and feedback, thereby bringing together diverse perspectives and ideas and providing rich inspiration for the entire design process.
Materials Science & Engineering
In the preliminary design stage, we will start from these aspects to turn abstract concepts into concrete objects, verify the feasibility of the concept, and provide clear directions for subsequent design and development
- After selecting some concepts, the design team turns them into preliminary sketches or graphical representations.
- Use simple materials or digital tools to create low-cost prototypes, usually including hand-drawn sketches, paper models, or basic digital prototypes.
- Preliminarily verify the basic structure and form of the design to ensure that the selected concept is theoretically feasible.
Manufacturing Engineering
In the 3D modeling stage, computer-aided design (CAD) tools are used to transform the 2D sketch into a 3D digital model.
- Import the previous 2D sketch into the CAD software, start with basic geometric shapes (such as cubes, cylinders, spheres, etc.) to build the overall shape of the product, and gradually refine the details of the product.
- Add precise dimensions and callouts of the product to ensure the design meets specifications and provide clear guidance for manufacturing.
- Render and visualize 3D models to produce high quality images and visual effects.
CAD
In the prototyping stage, physical prototypes are made to verify the actual effect of the design, identify potential problems, and make necessary modifications and improvements.
- Prepare digital model and quickly create product prototype using 3D printing, CNC machining, injection molding, etc.
- Give the prototype to actual user for testing and collect user feedback.
- Based on the results of user testing, make necessary modifications to the prototype to ensure that the final prototype meets the expectations of the design team and users.
